I have Home on an AMD Duron board, 1.3 GHz, 256 MB SD RAM, and home was running fine for about 3 days, then one day we went to restart and after "Searching for boot record from IDE-0..OK" nothing happend, just blinking underscore. I took note the CPU temperature was 129 degrees fahrenheit. Then I took home off and installed pro on it, everything was fine, I restarted and was installing all the stuff over again, in the middle of installing one of the programs the computer restarted... then again it reached 129 degrees fahrenheit. Same thing, it got to "Searching for boot record from IDE-0..OK" and blinking line... Could this be me needing a new CPU fan? or is it another unknown problem? Thanks in advance for advice.

Alright, I just ran chkdsk and it won't continue says "The volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems" and I also ran some other things that came with the Windows XP Pro CD, and said the volume was damage and the file system was corrupted, would that mean a dead HD? Could the CPU be causing the HD to screw up?
