ok here is and interesting one...10 machines on a network, had to change from a 196.168.1.x , 255.255.255.0 subnet, moved then to a 10.113.2.x same subnet new router and switch, baystack 460 w/vlans and a contivity 1700 router, ok the problem is that i cannot ping the gateway 10.113.2.1 on some machines..others work fine, have reset ipstack and winsock...no luck, any ideas?

asmort,

Are all 10 of these machines receiving IP addressing from the same DHCP server?

Can the affected hosts ping each other?

Is there some hardware device between the hosts that cannot ping the gateway and the gateway itself that could be filtering the ping packets?

no dhcp all static, no other devices...

Double check the subnet masks. Are your pc in a domain or workgroup?

workgroup, the thing is i just looked in the apr table of the router and it shows the pc ip's this makes no sence

Any interference caused by any firewalls (or other security) that have not been informed of the IP address change?

asmort,

Since you have them all configured using static IP addresses, and you say they all have the same subnet mask, do they all have the same default gateway?

You also said you have a Baystack 460 with vlans. The purpose of vlans is to isolate network segments so that they can't communicate with each other directly. How do you have this set up?

if it is the vlans you could check this by moving a cables from a port that does not work to a port that does.
