Hi guys!

I have XP Pro machines that are going to join a NT 4 Domain. Here is my question:

If I use the User Manager for Domains (nt) and set the User Properties to Change his password at next logon, how can I make this work in XP? I mean, if for example you use win98 and tell NT that User Must change his password at next logon, then, after the user starts his session, win98 automatically asks him to change his domain password... but how do I make this work over xp? (Local users on the machine must be only users, not power users or administrators).

As far as I know this should work the same way. The local policy distributed at logon from the Domain still has a role in XP for backwards compatability reasons.

The XP Group Policy environment is of course much richer, but the subsets applied from an NT domain are still enforced and applied.

Not really sure what you're asking. In the scenario you describe domain users will be prompted to change password. Local users on the XP box will not. This is expected behaviour.

You are right stewarth, I was a little confused about it... but I figured out I was mixing local and domain users. Now I only have one local user (Administrator) and my "problem" was solved. Thanks guys!
