I installed a program "as" admin in c:\msds.

Now i want to run it as another user.

But permission don't let me start it.

Maybe no read/write access in c:\msds for that user.
don't know.

How can i fix this?

The other user may need to have at least power user, perhaps admin rights to run the software.

So far haven't run into anything that won't run with Power User rights (without Admin)...has anyone else?

Log in as administrator or equivelant and give the appropriate permissions to the other user for the folder that houses the program. Right click the folder, go to Properties>Security, click add and add the user. Next set the permission to Read and Execute.

Issue is not solved because right click on the folder.
-> properties does not give a security option.

Any other idea's

So you're using FAT32 filestore - doesn't have NTFS file security options. Have you tried adding user(s) concerned to power users group? (I have to admit, don't know if this available in Home version - type lusrmgr.msc in run box, click on groups folder - if power users is on list, double click on it and use add button to add users you want to run app).

The filesystem is NTFS. I only get a share and security tab
for the network.

But we login as admin ( is NOT the administrator ). It is a user we have setup at the start of the installation. Not real installation because the are pre-installed by Dell.

This user has all the right but is not the administrator.

How can we even login as administrator. It is not a selectable user.

From another thread I've been participating in, it appears you can't run lusrmgr.msc in Home - so the only choices appear to be giving user admin rights or they can't run app. As to logging on as Administrator - again this works in Pro, don't know about Home. At Blue logon screen, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del twice - this gives you a logon box (where you can type username and password) - in Pro anyway.

Boot up in safe mode and log in as Administrator--- the Security tab will be visible.
