XP Home on NT4 Domain

I have just got a laptop with WinXP home (a joint MS/Disney production?) pre-installed and want to set it up on my works NT4 domain. (DOMAIN)

I have set the workgroup to be DOMAIN but although I can see all the shared resources I cannot access the passworded areas. I have set the username/password on startup to be the same as my NT username/password but this doesn't work either.

Is there a way to have XP home authenticate on a NT network?
Is there something I am missing here? or should I rip off XP home and stick Win9x on it (at least I can get that to work )

And why do MS insist on presenting their new OS looking like the sequel to Shrek, if I want cartoons on my PC I'd stick my Monsters Inc DVD on !

I have heard probloem with XP HOME authenticating to a domain, i havent actually tried. What i sugges is check the ip address ont he machines make sure they are the correct format. then remove the xp home from the domain then re ad it using the NT administrator domain account. karlehenry@aol.com

First, workgroup and a domain are different. Naming your workgroup to domain will not allow you to log onto the domain.

XP Home edition doesn't come with the ability to logon to a domain but you might be able to make it do so.

Yep, you need XP Pro to join a domain. Home Edition is desinged so that you can't.

You should give XP Pro a shot, switch to the classic views, you will be surprised at how much more stuff there is to tweak
