XP home keeps restarting after installing windows updates 1

Hi,

I forgot to update my XP home laptop for a couple of months. I ran the update yesterday and it needed to install 24 updates. After installing, it asked my to restart and since then it keeps on restarting. I have tried pressing f8 and choosing last known good config and safe mode but to no avail.

Any ideas how I can get back in to my computer. I cannot use the Sony recovery disk because it says it will wipe my drive clean and I have important docs in my document folder.

Any ideas?

go to the recovery console and run chkdsk /r and if that doesn't get you back in, try article 307545 or a repair install.
