I have windows XP Home preinstalled on a new Dell Laptop I just purchased. It's one of those systems that didn't provide a OS CD or a restore CD (neither came in the box). I downloaded Service Pack 1 and am now having an issue with Outlook Express and it's ability to pull in my E-mails. I didn't have the issue prior to service Pack 1. I would like to uninstall SP1 to see if it caused the new issue but it doesn't appear as an option in Add/Remove programs.
Restoring the OS is a bit drastic given that I don't have necessary drivers etc, (they may be on a hidden partition).

Is there a way to uninstall SP1 when it doesn't appear in the Add/Remove Folder?

if you did not choose to archive your files, the only way is a repair install.but, before you do this check your settings in outlook, sp1 resets a lot of xp settings to default.

if you still need help post back with the specific problem and i am sure someone will be able to help you. hope this helps.

I have three accounts dumping into Outlook Express. When I open Outlook Express, it synchronizes with the three accounts and should bring in any mail stored on their servers. No problem with the hotmail account, but the two other accounts will give incomplete synchronization and download some but not all of the stored mail.
The only work around is to go into the properties of the other accounts and delete the "incoming mail(POP3)" address and then re-write it exactly as it was prior and then all the mail will download into Outlook Express.
I have to do this every time I open Outlook Express. This problem only manifested after installing Service Pack 1 for Windows XP Home.

In order to do a repair you must have a xp cd rom. I would call Dell and get a original xp cd rom. At some point in the future if not now you will need it.
