For some reason, one XP system is getting the wrong time zone from the domain controller which is also the time server.

The server settings (\\mail) are set to MST -7 and properly sync with all the other XP, Vista and other servers.

C:\Documents and Settings\Mark>net time /set
Current time at \\MAIL is 3/20/2008 4:19 AM

Local time (GMT-06:00) at \\MAIL is 3/20/2008 5:19 AM

The current local clock is 3/20/2008 4:19 AM
Do you want to set the local computer's time to match the
time at \\MAIL? (Y/N) [Y]:

Thoughts?

Is Daylight savings time enabled on either the server or the XP box?

Only the truly stupid believe they know everything.

Daylight Savings is enabled on both the server and XP machine.

Did you apply the DST patches last year?

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

Are all machines in the same (and correct) Time Zone?

Can you check the Date and Time in the System Bios of the XP machine and make sure that is correct?

Maybe you have missed out on some of the Recommended Updates as opposed to Security Updates. If so manually checking with Windows Updates might help.

Are Automatic Updates the same updates as those that are available from the Windows Update Web site?

Yes. However, Automatic Updates delivers only the latest important updates that can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. These updates can include security updates, critical updates and service packs and should be installed as soon as they are released. You can download and install other types of updates, such as upgrades and tools that help improve the performance of your computer, by visiting the Windows Update Web site ( on a regular basis.

Windows Vista Team Blog : Windows Update ( Jim Allchin)

"First, while Automatic Updates in Windows XP SP2 did a great job of getting critical security fixes onto your PC, there really was no way for you to automatically keep your PC up-to-date with the non-critical updates that are important to keep your PC current."
