XP firewall blocks administrative shares

I have a brand-new XP system (new hardware, Dell-loaded OS) I am configuring. When I leave the XP firewall turned on with the File and Printer Sharing enabled (it is checked on the Exceptions tab) I cannot connect to the $ (administrative) shares (such as \\WHATEVER\C$). I have the Simple File Sharing disabled. This configuration normally allows me to connect to an XP system's $ shares without any issue.

I'm stumped (after far too much noodling not mentioned here to keep this concise). Anyone have an idea on this?

Never mind. Issue resolved via reboot of the system. Thanks all. ;)
