Windows XP Pro. When the computer boots up, it gets past the "Windows XP loading" screen and there is a flash, and then this message appears in a box:

Title: LSASS.exe System Error

Message: Indicates a revision number encountered or specified is not one known by the service. It may be a more recent revision than the service is aware of.

This happens when trying to go into safe mode also. We tried to do a repair, and now whenever we boot up the computer will say "setup is restarting" but the message still pops up and then the computer restarts after you hit "ok" (or the X).

We have taken all cards out of the PC and turned of all built on hardware (except video). This just started today on a user's workstation for unknown reasons. Any help out there?

Yes, my Windows XP CD has SP1 included. It is a corporate edition that requires no activation. All computers have current Windows updates also (none have been in stalled for a few weeks now, though).

It is sad to say that this type of error nearly always results in a reformat and clean install of XP. Maybe if it gets to that point you can try removing the drive and saving what you can if your backups aren't too good.
