Now that I have ISDN installed I'm trying to run Cisco fast step to setup my 776 router. Setup can't communicate with my router either through the Ethernet or Blue config cable. The RDY, NT1 , Line, LK1 and CH1 green LED's are glowing on the front of the router. I'm lost, any suggestions?

Any error messages?
Is the link-LED of your network card on?
Are IP-adresses fine? If you haven't already assigned static adresses to your PCs, is DHCP activated for the IP-protocol on the card? Sorry, I don't know about the default-settings of the router...

chris13,ISDNman,

Thanks for your help. I've given up on the Cisco router. I ordered a Netgear ISDN router. Hopefully I will get it up and going quickly.

Ive never used fast step, had to manually set mine up. (cisco 765). If the CH1 is always on and not blinking then it has made an ISDN connection somewhere, when it is blinking it is in the process of making a call. Make sure that the consol connection is the right settings (blue cable),9600, 8, none , 2 and none. It should have serial connection on both ends? The 765 has a BRI S/T connection so slightly different from yours (no NT1 light). Provided of course you haven't already got rid of the Cisco. I'm only new to Cisco and ISDN but I have managed to split my home network and connected them via ISDN sim with Cisco 765 and Cisco 2523.

Let me finalize this thread. Come to find out the phone company installed the ISDN line on a different set of terminals on the outside box. Nothing was wrong with the Cisco router. In the time it took for the phone company to get things right I bought a Netgear router and I’m using it now. Things are going good. Much better than dial-up. Now only if the phone company would lower their prices some that would be great. Won’t hold my breath.

For future reference---

If you put a phone or but set across and ISDN BRI (and goo off and on hook a ferw times) you should here a steady clicking or a burst of noise.

In 20/20 hindsight this might have helped you out.
