XP Boot problem with 2 512Mb RAm Sticks

I am running XP pro SP1 what are some things to check if when I install 2 512 sticks windows does not boot but with one it works fine?

Did you try one at a time and in differenet slots?
Then switching to the other one in the same manner?

Check Bios for Dual channel or single channel mode iff DDR Ram

An application called MEMTEST will help to rule out bad ram

That is what i guess your issue is, it could be your ram sticks are mismatched pc2700 with pc3200 (DDR333 with DDR400)
OR your motherboard dosnt support dual channel DDR (which could be 2 sticks of DDR400, for example an ASUS A7v8x can only hold 1 channel of DDR400 but 3 of DDR333
Give your motherboard model etc.....
