I want to setup a remote desktop connection to my XP machine. In order to do this I have to connect via vpn. I have everything setup on the windows machine. It will let me connect to itself by vpn, using a 192.168.x.y address. I have setup that computer as a dmz on my router so everything is passed to it. I'm using a linksys router, have pptp fowarding on, etc. It still is getting stuck on varafying username and password. Any guesses?

If you are trying to connect to yourself over the same internet link via the linksys router, you will not be sucessfull. I don't know exactly why this happens, but I do know from the school of hard knocks that it dosn't work.
If you connect to the internet with a separate connection (dialup or whatever) you will probably find that your vpn connection will complete.

Nope, I try connecting from other locations...never gets past the username/password.
