XP and NT 4 Server Login Scripts

I have XP pro installed on 40 client PCs, logging onto an NT 4 server. For some unknown reason XP refuses to run the login script on the NT server. There had been no problems when the pcs were using nt work station. The login script is just a batch file with a few driving mappings and it also runs a couple of programs.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

What kind of scripting do you use?

We run kix and have the ability to set error trapping.

Does your script call any reg keys, if so your anser les herin

It's a very simple script network mappings and a couple of progs for checking on virus updates. Just an ordinary dos type batch file. The batch file does not run at all and I camt do any error trapping.

is it a .bat extension? I'm not sure but maybe XP does not recognise the old DOS hangups...

Maybe post an example here and I'll run it in my XP test lab.

Hi there,

A couple of questions, I'm pretty sure the /delete and /d switch are the same. I aso notice that you delete a drive mapping and then re-map with a persistant connection to that share (\\ia_nt6\cisdocs). I think you could delete lines 4 and possibly 2, assuming all machines have the persistant connection in place. Otherwise remove the /y switch.

A couple of things to try. Insert a pause command after each line and watch the script run. It will indicate what lines it fails on. I would have thought that the drive mappings would run successfully but maybe not the apps (I'm not familiar with them).

It could be that the apps are not natively compatible with XP. Try installing locally and then admin to run under NT conditions.

You need to set any login entries through each user profile in xp.

If you look at the profile editor you will see the entry for the login script.
