XP is crzy. Question, You know when you click on VIEW on toolbar, files or pictures, you have 5 choices - thumb, tiles, list, icons, details. I have tried locking my preferences to DETAILS, because it shows Details! PROBLEM: Everytime I click on VIEW, it automatically goes to large icons or if its pictures, they OPEN up (Which I dont Like at all!) I try all sorts of tricks to LOCK this VIEW down to Details and NONE of these things work. Does anyone know a way to LOCK the view permanently, (until preferences changed)? Thanks for any help on this frustrating little quirk.

Open any Windows Folder and select the view you want for files and folders. Click on Tools/ Folder Options/ View. Select from the dropdown options "remember each folder's view setting". Finally at the top of the View properties select "Apply to All Folders"

Click on Apply then OK.

Thanks for the reply. I will try it again, but I swear Ive done this before and the setting didn't stay put, unless I was doing it wrong. I'll give it another shot. Too be continued.......... ps I think I hate XP!
