I’m running CRXI R2 with ASP.NET 2.0 VS2005. Trying to load a report into the crystal viewer control and getting the error message “Failed to load database information” . I’m using the native oracle DataSource. If I change the DataSource to OLE DB (ADO) Oracle provider, it works fine. Also, both DataSource connections work fine if running through the Crystal IDE, only having trouble with the native DataSource and the crystal viewer control in a web app. Oracle client is 10G. Any help would be appreciated

do you have the full oracle client installed on the server where the app/cr viewer is installed?

Yes. I'm running on my local dev environment. I have the full 10g client installed plus just upgraded to XI R2. Is there anything I can look for in 10g that might be missing or multiple versions of some dll?

can you check the file permissions on the BIN folder (in Oracle client folder)?

Does the CR viewer launch as a different user? (ASPNET, SYSTEM, IWAM...?)

Not sure if I'm clear on you're question. I'm running locally in debug using VS2005 so I guess the user is myself being an adminisrator on my local machine. The bin folder security is wide open for administrators.

as a test can you modify the rights to the BIN folder, granting EVERYONE and/or the ASPNET user full control?

I did and it worked! However, when I set it back to the way it was, it still worked!?!? I'm a bit confused about the second part but all in all I'm happy that the native connection is now working. Thank you for you're help.
