Hi, a member posed this question a few months back, and got no answer. I have the same question, so am posing it again. If the user figured out the answer, could you perhaps let us know?

I have a Xerox Phaser 8400 printing 1" margins by default. I'd like to decrease, ideally eliminate, the size of this margin. Is there any way to do this? Documentation does not address this.

Thanks in advance.

Margins are normally controlled by the application, down to the printer's minimum margin. The 'full color' pdf's used for head cleaning leave of approx 3/16". What application are you printing from?

Normally controlled by the application, yes. However, after modifying the margins to 0 in each application I've attempted, the margins remain as what the printer is defaulting to. It's most certainly an issue with the printers default margin settings. Some printers allow the margin limitations to be altered, and some don't. I'm wondering if the Pasher 8400 is the latter.

But, to answer your question, the app's I've attempted to print marginless documents from are:

Adobe Acrobat
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe InDesign
Microsoft Word

When using MS Word 2003 with default printer set to Phaser 8400 PS I can go into page setup and change my margins all to zero, and I get a popup saying that my choices (0 all around) are outside the printer's capabilities and gives me the option to 'fix'. If I fix, it fills in:

Top .19 bottom 0.21, left 0.21, right 0.21

I just did a 'quick brown fox jumped'.... test with full justification, and it seems to me that the margins match out to the .19/0.21/0.21/0.21.

I guess I'm not sure what else to tell you--sorry I couldn't help more.

no prob..thanks for taking the time.
