Hi,

I got this error on an 8550 after a very long power on / warmup...
37,002.47:xxxxx (xxxxx = number of pages printed)

From viewing Cultoflon's previous reply to a post at I gather that this may be a power related issue but there is no UPS involved - just straight 120 from the wall outlet. Perhaps it's a bad power supply in the 8550.

Does anyone know what the Xerox service agreement is like these days? We had a previous S/A but my wife allowed it to lapse. Xerox said (prior to this incident) that we could still renew it but I'm wondering if they'll be able to identify the time of the error and then refuse service after we've renewed the agreement.

TIA,

PEST Error - Printhead Left jetstack disconnect. The left jetstack is not drawing the expected power from the supply.

This error indicates a problem with the printhead. It will need to be replaced. A printhead is very expensive.

If you end up replacing the printer, I would recommend looking into a PagePack agreement (availible through select Xerox resellers). Key advantage is that a PagePack agreement covers both service and all supplies for a fixed cost per page so you don't have to worry about problems like this.

Hi,

1st, tnx to CULTOFLON & go2printgreen.

My biggest apprehension was being subjected to the tender mercies of Xerox' service policies and rates.

CULTOFLON, I take it that your take on it is drawn directly from the error code? If so, I guess we'll find out what expensive means. We have found a fairly local xerox tech that is going to take a look at it - at local rates. Hopefully his good will and a bit of skill will get us back up and running. Should hear an estimate in a day or two.

Thanks again for your input and yours too, go2printgreen, for the service option info.

Problem is, if the print head is bad, it won't be cost effective to replace. Like Cultoflon stated, you should replace the printer.

Hi again,

I get your point about the cost effectiveness of replacing the print head. Hopefully the tech will be able to give an accurate and definitive state of things. No charge for the diagnosis. And will probably get a better sense of the condition of other parts of the system as well.

tnx
