I have checked the printhead for obstruction but none found!

The axis moter which moves the head left and right works ok but when the printhead gets to the far left or right, it makes a horrible sound and Im guessing the motor doesnt know the printhead is as far as it will go.... this happens when the head is moved left or right. .

The process gears look fine. . .

Anyone encountered this before?

Check the roll block for ink build up, and look at the waste tray sensor also. Check the head tilt cam, white gear below right side of P-head. This error is indicative of a tilt error, not a left/right movement issue. The L/R P-head restraints may be broken.

Thanks for the reply!

I dont think these have the white cam, they have the black cam on the left of the printer outside the printer chassy. . . . The white cam is on the 850 model?

Try to manually tilt the printhead. And proceed through the whole motion cycle--forward and back.

Look on the left side of the machine where the big head tilt gear is. This gear has an un-toothed section that you got to rotate past, or sometimes unlock. If you can manually tilt the printhead using the gears, then some other nearby part is causing it, interferring as they move past each other.

The X-Axis motor, Cap Wipe assy or belts, or the Power control board may be to blame
