XDA makes a good doorstop

Just bought an XDA PocketPC2002 device and am starting to regret it. The device works ok. ActiveSync (3.6 installed today) makes a good connection and I can copy files over and install games etc. However...

I can't syncronise with Outlook 2002. Everytime I try I get the following error:

Information type not synchronised
Items of one or more information types cannot be synchronized. Disconnect and reconnect your device.
To view all error messages and dialog boxes that require your input, you must connect to this computer via infrared or serial/USB cable.

Needless to say, following these instructions does not help.

Can anyone help?

When I look in the ActiveSync log (wcemgr.log), I see the following error messages:

ERROR: CoCreateInstance( clsid, NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_IUnknown, (LPVOID *)&m_pStoreObj ) returned 0x800700B6, file: d:\medusa\private\apps\conn\repl\wcesmgr\.\cesync.cpp, line 2275

ERROR: Failed to create Microsoft Outlook synchronization services, error: 0x800700B6

ERROR returned in function CStoreInfo::CreateInstance. hr: 0x800700B6

....this means nothing to me and I've searched the net without much joy.....

How's your Outlook setup? Are you using an exchange server or internet mail?
