I am producing a catalog for my workplace using Corel X3. Have been using
Corel since vers. 4, the "easiest" vector app. out. And I've used AI 8 thru CS2 and
even own AI CS on a MAC. Will be producing with X3 on a PC. Question:
The catalog will be Full Color CMYK. The output will be to PDF's with fonts embedded and fonts to curves. Can I just produce it in RGB and use all the colors then when I output to PDF just make sure it's CMYK? Or just create and output strikly in CMYK? AND should color management be on or off for CMYK or
RGB create and output??
Thanks a bunch in advance.

I have the colour manager set as 'internal rgb = Generic and rendering intent perceptual
Separations printer = Euroscale coated (uncoated if going on that type of paper) Monitor = your printer profile if you can find one or I have used generic. CMYK printer = your printer or generic. Make sure Photopaint is setthe same. Work in Draw using the cmyk colour model palette, photos - correct your photos in rgb when satisfied change to cmyk, in some instances there may be a slight 'dullness' after conversion this is because cmyk has a smaller gamut than rgb. Make sure pdf settings are set so that colour photos are not swapped back to rgb on output. If you are using Corels own publish to pdf I set it to convert text to curves not as necessary if going to Distiller but if there are loads of fonts used I would click OFF the download fonts part in Draw this will also convert to curves on printing to Distiller. You can check if fonts are in your document by looking at the document properties and fonts in Acrobat, obviously it should be blank if text is curves. It will make your file bigger but will avoid any font issues, above all check your pdf before handing over to the printers.

Thanks for the quick answer Brushman.
Will do as you suggest.
I am going to make some interactive PDF's via X3 and
am already having problems with the fonts
in Acrobat. Will probably be asking for some
more help.
Thanks Again.
