Hi everyone,

I'm using a multiprotocol 2-port PCI card (FC 2962) with only one port used for direct leased line connection.
When, trough smit, I try to switch to PSTN, I receive this error message :

An error occurred while configuring the X25 network parameters
Do you want to proceed with the installation of sX25a0 ?

0514-048 error downloading the microcode or software

cfgsx25 : x.25 link daemon not running
cfgsx25 : attemtpting to start link daemon
cfgsx25 (config-link) : execing x.25 linker daemon
cfgsx25 (config-link) : link request failed

error attaching hdlc layer to physical device (E_ATTACH)

cfgsx25 : config-link () call failed
cfgsx25 : unable to backout on error err_undo2 () - failed unloading driver (x25pkt)
cfgsx25 : can not terminate x25 pkt : device busy

I removed the comio from the first port and even removed the second port to be sure. Anyway, I still receive that error. Sometimes (it depends) I also see (ps -eaf | grep X2) the X29d running and it should not.

Does anybody has a clue ?

Thanks

some system maintenance levels seem to work others - not

Hi! I am also encountering the same problem you had. maybe you can help me out.

The server that I am currently configuring is an IBM pseries, w/ 64-bit kernel. OS level is AIX4.3.3, aixlink version is 1.1.5.

Any assistance is highly appreciated.

Thanks. =-)

Hi,

After some phone calls, here's some clues:

1. the fileset level, mainly devices.pci.331121b9.rte (I currently have 4.3.3.14) and devices.common.IBM.hdlc.sdlc (I have 4.3.3.13). The first one has to be updated at least to 4.3.3.16, because it seems that the 14 one is a bugged one, wich already moved to 51st version. But as long as I have fileset level mandatory requirements for my above apps,I can't change it. This first is the IBM support solution. They won't be able to support unless that upgrade is done.

2. The second one comes from the apps support (Swift) : This card is connected to a modem. Before making ANY change into smit, that modem has to be completly configured, switched on, phisically connected with the correct (one the port YOU'RE USING, 0 or 1) and working cables and properly configured. According to them, this is a typical hardware error message due to either modem misconfiguration or cable failure.

I will personnaly try the second solution this friday

Hope it will helps, for you and for me

BTW, if you succeed, I'm interested in you experience.

Hi, thanks very much for your suggestions. I will try them ASAP, and inform you of any successful solutions. =-)
BTW, small world coz I'll be using it for Swift too.

Hi,

I checked the version of my devices.pci.331121b9.rte, it's 4.3.3.50, so I had no problem there.
The strappings for our modem had already been configured, so I physically connected modem to port0, and configured x.25 using Swift Alliance System Administration. I was able to configure port0, but when Swift Alliance tries to configure port1, that's where I encounter the errors.

But since Swift Alliance was able to configure port0 where the modem is attached, I think that this is already ok.
Still have to schedule testing though. But I think your solution # 2 is going to work.

Good luck on Friday. =-)

I forgot to tell you...that multiprotocol card is not configurable by SA Administration, You have to do it from Smit. Can you contact me at dabel@byblosbankeur.com?

G'day,
I had the same errors and configured both ports for leased. then I connected the Leased line(s) to the Encryptors and then to the Telecoms "modem".
All configured well after that.
Note AIX commands like lsx25 and x25status
