Hi,

I'm trying to get red hat 8.0 onto a rather obscure machine. The graphical install (which I think uses X (?)) displays alright but I cant seem to find any working X configuration post install. So I'm thinking if I could find the settings from the install I could use them. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dan

You can always edit your XF86Config (/etc/X11/XF86Config-4)file, or run XF86Config from the command line and then configure the X settings there.

What is it that you want to change? - Screen resolution, Vertical or Horizontal Refresh rates?

Maybe you're using the wrong device driver for your graphics card? Most of the time the reason why X won't start is because of incompatible device driver.

If you've got a new graphics card unlisted in the X configuration when you installed linux, then you oughta search for the correct driver.
