Has anyone sucessfully worked with X.O. communications sip trunks and the avaya ip office 6.0? Customer wants to use X.O. and I just wondering what experiences people have had with X.O and SIP. Also what are your thoughts on SIP in general with IP Office. And Finally with SIP, you can use it like a PRI correct? for example i can order 4 sip trunks and have 20 private did numbers correct?

this is all subjective to how your ITSP operates.

your first question, as long as you have provisioning information and a bit of patience, you should be able to get most SIP trunks working on the IPO. v6 has a number of new features that make this process more reliable now.

second, SIP providers dont really adhere to any ISDN type methods, but in essence, your provider could possibly offer you just one number or 100.

remember SIP isnt a standard, its a protocol. there are many ways to skin the cat named SIP.

I'm currently using X.O. SIP trunks in the Orlando, FL region. I've had pretty good experiences with the quality of service and their equipment was installed beautifully. The only issue I had with them was that the implementation team seems very new to SIP so most of the techs you speak to don't really know how to help you. I was able to eventually find someone who understood how things worked and he has always been great in solving any issues that have arisen.

In my experiences SIP works fine with IP Office however I have not upgraded to R6 yet. I have 10 SIP trunks through X.O. and 120 DIDs. Hope this info helps.
