Hi
I did install wuftp 2.6.2 on Solaris 8.
The reason I did replace the built in ftp server is that there was request to use anonymous ftp server that disable the logged in users to travel through the Solaris file system and limit their access to their own home directory.
The problem we are encountering is that when trying to transfer or even "ls" file larger then 2 gigabyte error is given and the file transfer does cancel.
The problem occurs in all the 6 installation of wuftpd on all solaris 8 servers.
Can anyone help? Advice?
Does anyone encounter or do have this situation with wuftpd server?
Can anyone suggest solution with this ftp server?
If no does anyone know ftp server that do the same kind of work (anonymous ftp that limit access to home dir)?

Any help will be appreciated!

Herzel,
This is probably not a application problem but a Solaris 8 default limit. The is a 2 GB limit on fizesize transfers... Try this command and see if it fixes your problem.

limit filesize unlimited

Thank you very much bfitzmai for your very quick response.

I did think of this limitation also but when I did put file in 2.5 Gigabyte in the file system, there were no problem I can add that I even uninstalled the wuftpd package and brought back original ftp server resulting in successful transfer of the mentioned file.
I do not have access to this system till Wednesday I will try to check your suggestion with the limit/ulimit command but can you (or anybody else)think of anything else?
Do you think its still ulimit problem?

When you say transfer or even "ls" file larger then 2 gigabyte error is given... what is the error message that is given? Do you see an error message on the server side?

Also, where did you obtain this copy of wuftpd? Did you compile it yourself from source?

Annihilannic.

Thank you annihilannic for your interset.

The error message I do have when trying to ls (from wuftpd)is :
"550 tt1: Value too large for defined data type."
when "ttl" is the name of the file in size of 3.6Gb
the whole session looks like this:

"uashk12 /syb_backup #ftp 127.0.0.1

here is example of trying to get file with wuftpd server:

Okay, to my other question? Where did you get this copy of wuftpd? Did you compile it yourself? If so, with what options, etc.

Annihilannic.

Thanks;
The package is from: It’s binary and had been installed with pkgadd.
Not compiled by myself.
Shall I compile it from source?
If yes can you please advice what is the procedure or command line option for compilation?

Thank you very much annihilannic for your great and professional help!
