Hey guys,

I need some help here. I was playing around with WSUS and made a few mistakes. I have to unistall and reinstall everything.

I unistalled WSUS and the setup finished. I didn't look closely though but I assumed it was successful b/c it was gone from add/remove programs. I then removed the internal database and net framework b/c I wanted to do a fresh install of everything.

I then realized that WSUS was not successfully removed. When I tried to remove it from the setup.exe file in progam files/..., I get the following error:

Setup not completed

The windows server update service 3.0 was not removed successfully because an error occured.

Does anyone have any idea on how I can remove this?

Thanks

Stop the services first. Delete the files and delete any registry keys.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Thanks for the response.

I was thinking about the same thing but I was a bit nervous on deleting the registry keys. Would it be fine to deleted all keys with "wsus" in them?

Backup your registry first, then yes it should be safe. Especially if you plan on reinstalling.

Thanks

I removed about 90% of the keys. Some, I was unable to remove, the system gave me an error. I also removed all of the files on the system.

When I run the installer, It still prompts me to remove wsus! I have no idea why, any ideas?

Did you remove the Uninstall keys in the registry?

I hope you find this post helpful.

Yes I did Mark

I ran the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility and it did the trick.

Thanks so much!!
