I have been working on this blasted WSUS for days and it is not working properly. In this situation, I have 3 environments in question. I will give a brief explanation:
A - Production environment with a "master" WSUS and "child" WSUS servers. It has internet connectivity and downloads updates form the internet. We approve them manually.
B - This is a private, completely isolated LAN. It has NO connectivity to ANY other networks. I have WSUS in this one and after much work it seems to work. I ONLY want to use updates that have been approved in "A", so I did the "ynch" process. I grabbed all of the wsuscontent directory and did the metadata export with wsusutil. I then put the wsuscontent on the new (environment B) server and did the metadata import with wsusutil. After tweaking, when I approve updates it shows them downloading and they work.
C - This environment is similar to B. It is 100% isolated and has its own WSUS. I did the exact same process as on "B" with the import. However, this environment NEVER downloads. On the front page I get that BS "Downloading 1.49mb of 89.mb" or whatever. I approve/disapprove of all sorts of updates and they detect for clients. The server just seems to never "download" them even though they are already in the wsuscontent directory.
Now, I have done many things. All servers are 2003 Server. I have removed all policies and security templates from the server thats not working just to troubleshoot. All DB's are SQL2000. I have checked folder security on the WSUSContent directory and made it match the ones that work. Nothing works. BTW, I am using WSUS with SP1.
I am not getting any errors. I did get one like "Content File Download canceled", but I think thats because I was approving/disapproving of 1 update to test. I have looked at the windowsupdate.log and it is telling me nothing.
I am baffled right now. Any ideas?
