WSUS: Client PC's not automatically installing and rebooting

Hello,

Server: Windows Server 2003 SP1
Client PC's: XP Pro SP2
WSUS Update server
GPO: Configured to schedule and install every Thursday night at 3:00AM and reboot the clint PC's

OK here is the kicker (please I know this needs to be changed)all the machines here run as an administrator. I noticed that if you are a local admin on your machine the GPO will not automatically install and reboot the client PC. it will always prompt the end user to click on the yellow shield and install the updates manually.

Is there a way to make an administrator automatically get WSUS updates and have their machine reboot? It seems to only work on non-admin accounts.

Thanks,

sheesh... why do you log everyone in as admin with local admin rights?

that aside... I think that's the way the group policy works. It assumes the user is an admin and therefore kinda knows what they're doing. But if you have a schedule, say 2am on a Monday morning, all machines that are on, but logged off, should get updates, install them and reboot?
however if the machine is not on, it will only start applying those updates when the user logs on and therefore logged in as admin will be prompted.

I had nothing to do whith the local admin thing, the damage was done before I got this position! TRUST ME, I am going to change that :)

OK Some of what you said is what i was thinking. Anybody else have any thoughts? Does it truly not work for local admins?
