I need to setup a WSUS for a clients network. I have a member server with WSUS installed and a 2003 AD with 2 DC's and an Exchange 2003 server. Can anybody give me a step by step or link me to a tutorial to speed me :)

I've looked at a couple of MS GPO tech notes and they're not intuitively obvious to me!

Thanks,
Bruce

Hi,

You need to setup the GPO ( Computer Config \ Admin Temp \Wind Comp \ Windows updates) to tell the computers within the domain/OU to contact your WSUS server for updates (see the policy: Specify Intranet....) Then you will want to launch your servers Admin website ( and start assigning the machines into groups. Be sure to setup the configuration of WSUS as in how you want it to approve/install updates and what types to look for. See the link Options and click each link and configure for your needs.

Hmm. I think the link to WSUS manual is -

I have been using WSUS for several years now and it works great for my domain.
