Hi

Im pulling my hair out hear trying to make the search work on sharepoint wss3 sp2. I hope someone here can help me resolve my problem!

Setup...
Default Website Port: 80 Host head: intra.company.co.uk
Sharepoint Port: 80 SSL: 443 Cert installed No host head

My sharepoint site runs on another ip address 192.168.6.31 to enable me to have both sharepoint and the default website on port 80.

I have added a host record to DNS which resolves the server to both names.

the search account im using is a member of WSS_WPG, WSS_ADMIN_WGP and WSS_RESTRICTED_WPG.

The events i've been receiving in event viewer are 2436 and 2424 stating...

2436

The start address <sts3s://servername:80/contentdbid={d6468fe7-7137-4ea6-a099-0fe682cc257d}> cannot be crawled.

Context: Application 'Search index file on the search server', Catalog 'Search'

Details:
An unrecognized HTTP response was received when attempting to crawl this item. Verify whether the item can be accessed using your browser. (0x80041204)

and

2424

The update cannot be started because the content sources cannot be accessed. Fix the errors and try the update again.

Context: Application 'Search', Catalog 'index file on the search server Search'

I have disabled loopback check as described in many articles on the internet but still no luck.

If anyone has any suggestions i would be extremely grateful.

Thanks
Mark

Hi i've managed to sort it out. I removed our site and re-created on port 8080 without SSL selected. I then manually went into IIS added port 443 for SSL and our certificate. Also added the alternate mapping for our internet address
Now all works no errors what so ever.

Thanks for your help.

Mark
