WSS 3.0 Coexistence with Web Application

I have a web application that runs on port 80. I just installed WSS 3.0, and it installed itself as a new web app, also on port 80. I would like to have the two applications coexist on the same server, same IP address, and same port (80). Is this possible?

The only documentation I've been able to find refers to WSS 2.0, which used an ISAPI filter to handle all incoming requests. Since WSS 3.0 does not do this, I cannot apply those instructions.

Unfortunately, I do not have the luxury of creating a subdomain for the WSS application - i.e. running my web site on and WSS on wss.mydomain.com.

Ideally, I would like WSS to run as a subdirectory under my main site, I tried doing this by creating a virtual directory under my web app. and duplicating all of the files, directories, and virtual directories that are under the WSS application, but it did not take.

Please help!

I am trying to do the same thing, unfortunately there isn't any useful documentation to guide me.

Has anyone been able to install wss 3.0 to a virtual directory of an existing site?

I'm also trying to setup a website under the same configuration and have had no luck on findinf any documentation. By playing with the Application Paths, I was able to install a site collection under a sub-directory, but the web.config and global.asax file that get created at the IIS root of the website prevent me from putting a custom .NET 2.0 website at the root.

PLEASE HELP, ANYONE!
