This is the message I get when I try to mount the floppy drive with this Command in Red Hat Linux 6.2:
mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy

fstab file entry:

/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto,user 0 0

Don't know what else to check?

Looks like you are trying to change the mount options from those in fstab. Since /mnt/floppy is defined in fstab the correct command should be:

mount /mnt/floppy

Mount should automatically adjust to the type of file system found on the disk in the drive. [sig]
Michael Regan
mregan@bccs-ca.com
<a href= Cat Computer Systems
Black Cat Computer Systems build Linux servers and work
Thanks for the suggestion but that command didn't work either. Ended up installing Linux Mandrake instead everything was easy to install and everything worked.

Hi I've got a similar problem . I'm running RH 6.2 and recently i installed kernel 2.4.1 . ( previously i was using 2.2.14-50
Problem it's that after installing the new kernel i cannot mount anymore the fat32 partition.
Everytime I receive a message like:
" /dev/hda1 has a wrong major or minor number "
I tried to make the dev file again with:
"rm /dev/hda1,
mknod -m 666 /dev/hda1 b 3 1" and then to remount;
the same problem.
I tried with other kernels as well.
no result.
So if someone knows how to resolve this please help me.
