Dear all,

I have a problem with date data from an Oracle view
in a CR 8.5 report:

a wrong date is displayed in the report, although SQL
(TOAD, SQL*Plus) displays the correct data.

The view uses a decode function that selects the latest
date of two different fields.

CR seems to calculate this on its own, with a different
(wrong) result compared to SQL alone.

I'm using an ODBC driver to an Oracle 8i database.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I'd guess that you're using the Oracle supplied ODBC driver, instead of the Oracle ODBC driver supplied by Crystal, which is what you should use if you insist on using ODBC.

You can use Database->Set Datasource Location to repoint the report to the correct CR supplied ODBc driver, or better yet, use the Crystal supplied native connectivity for Oracle, it's MUCH faster. Select Oracle server within the Other sources area (something like that, I don't have 8.5 here).

Oh, and one other thing, turn on the Query Returns Results option if using the CR Oracle ODBC driver.

I am using the CR Oracle ODBC driver.

But where can I turn on the "Query Returns Results" option?

The problem is solved. Actually, the date field in the Oracle view was somehow not of standard format, so SQL and CR interpreted the retrieved dates differently.
