I know everybody is going to think Im crazy, but.. I have a report in developer 6i. The report is designed like a form and has a large number of fields on it. Everything on the form works as usual except for two columns/fields. The fields, lets call them field1 and field2 contain each others data. No Im not crazy. I checked the sql script that pulls the data, the columns are not aliased or anything. the fields on the form contain the correct column in their data contents. Ive deleted the fields and recreated them, renamed them, done everything I can imagine with them, but field1 on the form ALWAYS contains the data from field2 and field2 always contains the data for field1. Is there any explanation for this crazy behavior? Ive checked and rechecked my properties on these fields and they are simply NOT wrong.

I know everybody who reads this will assume Ive got my properties set wrong somewhere, but I swear that I dont. I promise Im not THIS incompetent. I have to believe this is some kind of bug.. can anyone help me out here?

have u COMPILED and REGENERATE the report after the change u have made.

Compile:-
PROGRAM-->COMPILE-->ALL (ctl+shift+k)

Generate:-
FILE-->ADMINISTRATION-->COMPILE REPORT (ctl+T)

yes, i tried the compile all first thing because I had seen strange problems resolved by it in the past, but it didnt do any good. My next step is to recreate the report from scratch but its a very complicated page with a several dozen fields and I really do want to know whats going on. There are actually a total of 6 fields that are involved in the strange behavior.. field1 through field6 and I have deleted all 6 several times now and they always exhibit the same behavior no matter how many times I recreate them. Field6 is always correct and the others are always incorrect and always incorrect in the same way...5 always contains 1, 4 always contains 5, 3 always contains 4, 2 always contains 3 and 1 always contains 2... so there appears to be a pattern but I dont understand how the form fields can NOT contain the field they point to... Im guessing there is something in how the report is processed.. the report must be processed in some "band" fashion as if it was a normal report even though I have selected a "form" like report in the report wizard.

Check again not their names or headings, but rather their Sources.

I did, I checked their sources a million times..<G>

Is your SELECT from a view? A view might have accidentally switched the column names.

no, nothing as simple as the wrong field name.. im sure its a bug of some kind.. probably related to how the report is processed. I notice when in preview mode that the fields on the report seem to be "connected" in a "row" pattern and not just free floating on the report...

I suppose that your problem may be in wrong frame inclusion. So I'd suggest you to verify it 1000001th time.
