Hi! Frequent viewer, first time poster. I have two Partner ACS systems with 103G4 processors and 12G1 backup/restore cards (side note: one of the 103G4's blew its power supply this past weekend with the P6KE62A (CR108 on board) transient voltage suppressor shorting out - I am currently in the process of getting a replacement for that part). Both are running R4.0. I downloaded the the R6.85T update from Avaya but I have no idea how one would write it to the 12G1 cards. From other postings to this forum I have seen that it is possible to reflash 12G1's with R6.0 firmware. I also happen to have a Centennial Technologies FL01M-20 PCMCIA Flash Card that I might be usable as well assuming it is compatible with the Partner ACS motherboard. However, I have no clue as to how one writes to these cards.

Can anyone here point me in the right direction to get this firmware update applied to my systems? I really want to get the DST fix installed.

you can not use any of the silver 12Gx cards to upload the firmware and then upgrade.
However if you have an old green flash card from the ACS R1 then you can use that card to put the bin files on it and upgrade to R6.
you can not use the green card to put the R7 or R8 bin files on it because it is too small though.
You can also purchase a flash card (8MB) for it and put any firmware on it.

I do have a card that has a green label saying "PARTNER ACS Backup/Restore PC Card" along with "Copyright (C) 1996 Lucent Technologies, Inc.". No part number on the card or any indication it had firmware on it like the 12G1 does. Is this the card you are referring too? If so, what do I need to do to get the 6.85T BIN file onto this card so it can upgrade my processor?

That card is used to backup and restore the processor's programming.

My thought would be to just purchase a new processor rather than going through all the work to flash your old one.

There are still some "new" R6 processors out there, but the latest is the R8.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Zzznorch, If you can find my email address I can email you some old software for the R6 85T.

that green card is the one I am talking about, it can hold the bin files for anything up to R6 and can flash it up to the newer version.
The software to get the bin files onto the card is called Flashtools, I am not sure but there might be others out there as well.

jinxs - I think I tracked down a valid address and I have sent a message to you.

I haven't had any other responses. I have been able to install both the green Lucent/Avaya backup card and Centennial FL01M-20 flash card under XP and have the system recognize it. I have even been able to read the contents of the cards. However, if I try to write using standard Windows calls (CreateFile, WriteFile) under C++, I get a successful return but the cards do not store what I have written. If I could figure out why they won't write, I could write the 6.85T image to either card and upgrade these two processors.
