Please Help...

We have several NT4 and XP Pro workstations intermittently coming up with write fault errors in our organization when printing. It happens daily when we print to our Controlled and public access NDPS printers. Sometimes we get write fault errors with a one page print job or a 119 page Power Point sometimes get 25%, 35%, or 75% complete and boom! $%^$# Write Fault!!!
The printers we us are HP 4050, HP color 5, and Lexmark. We client 4.83 (no SP yet) and we have tried SP2 Beta (Novell's recommendation) to no avail. We tried different drivers and setting for the printers. We have checked our security settings for NDPS (all at medium). We ran a trace today, preliminary reports suggest, all is well. It is getting reviewed by Novell.
All this seemed to start happening when we installed our new Netware 5.1 server to replace a Netware 4.1 server. More so after we installed SP5 for Netware 5.1.

We are preparing to convert the all PAs to use the New Novell NDPS (SNMP) Gateway and do away with the 3rd party and older Novell port handling gateways.

Are we going in the right direction or not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Thank you

We don't use the gateways at my place, we just configure the NDPS Printer to print IP to the printer.

What driver version(s) are you using? -----------------------------------------------------

We've been having rampant problems with this as well with the latest Novell clients. According to TID 10080018 it has been fixed in sp2 of the client. However, that is currently in beta so use at your own risk.

Good news!!!

We've figured it out the other day.
We do not use IPX anymore (slows down everything), some of our printers where setup wrong and had IPX enable at the printer/hardware level. To solve this we added the the switch /noipx when the NDPS Manager loads. Well someone (we don't know who!) placed the the switch /noPIX thus enabling IPX. We changed the autoexec.ncf with correct command and now everthing is peachy....

Hope this helps!

Try TID 2965005. We have this problem all of the time, too. Based on our initial tests, this eliminates the "A Write Fault occured on the network" errors. We plan on deploying this patch to our entire network.
