Write Cache Enabled on SCSI Disk???? 1

Hi all,

I'm looking at a server which has been reported as having performance related issues. Overall the server looks to be in good health for its age and spec.

The only thing I am unsure on is that the main data SCSI disk has Write Cache Enabled On - should this be on? Why would you have it on? Would this cause performance issues?

The server is 2K Server with SP4

Write caching is enabled on the controller. What type of SCSI controller do you have installed?

Write cache is generally good for performance. the real problem with it arises if you dont have a battery backup on the scsi card and you have a power failure. any data in the cache is lost and can lead to currupt disk volumes.
