Hi all, I've got a couple of laptops connecting to a wireless broadband modem router which has been working fine with 128bit WEPbut I've started trying to use WPA TKIP instead and am having problems.

My laptop sees my access point and connects to it fine BUT i can't access the internet anymore. Also pinging the wireless router comes back with destination host unreachable... hows that possible when my little network icon in the sys tray says I'm connected????

Any help welcomed!

Cheers

I've just noticed that my laptop now has an IP of 169.252.312.xxx which is nothing like my wireless routers IP!

I have DHCP enabled on the router so why is this assigning a wierd IP to my laptop now when it was assigning IPs fine when just using WEP?

Laptop is running win 200 pro

Windows 2000 pro does not support WPA. It does not matter what client adapter software you run. XP with Service Pack 1 does support WPA, albeit poorly. XP with Service Pack 2 and the "Wireless Provisioning Service" can do so with some elegance at times.

Revert your router to 128-bit WEP. Revert your client software settings to reflect this change.

After removing this obstacle, you may face the issue of a corrupted Winsock service stack. See: faq779-4625

OK. This might not be the best thread to post this in, but for 2 years I've had no problems w/my wireless card. However, I now go to a coffee house that requires a password (network key). I know the prob. must be on my computer b/c I can connect w/my IPAQ OK, but not my notebook. I can connect to their network with a strong signal...but can't send/receive any bits, therefore no internet or email. This issue is this - they have an 8 character text password, however when I enter this password it says it must be either 5 or 13 characters. They have a WPA something, with TPIK? I've tried to find a place in my settings to let my wireless card know this, but I am stumped. Anyone know the way around this?
Thanks
