Hello All :)

I've had problems on two win98se PC's and a laptop concerning printing. "Cannot run printserver100.exe" is my error message.

Now I've already been to corel's site and downloaded the hefty 108mb "patch" that was meant to fix this problem. I have installed it and yet it still persists. I have to do my work in v10 programs, save them then print them in v8. This is unacceptable :(

Can anyone offer any help please? :)

Thanks heaps :>

I have a user with EXACTLY the same problem. Any thoughts?

I had the same problem. Although this Corel KB doesn't directly address out problems. I'm going to try this solution. I'll let you know if it works.

=================
After applying Service Pack 2 download: Error PerfectFit Font in PrintServer100.exe

The information in this document applies to:
WordPerfect® 10 for Windows®

Problem

A user reported that after applying the download version of Service Pack 2 for WPO2002, the following erro was generated:

"Error PerfectFit Font in PrintServer100.exe"

Answer:

During the troubleshooting process it was discovered that the user was using an HP 1200.

Adding a shortcut to the StartUp folder to PrinterServer100.exe allowed the printing process to proceed without error.

Details:

This may also occur with HP 1000 and 2000 series printers.

Pre-launching the PrintServer100 seems to correct the issue

Yeah I found that only this week as well, it works for printing problems now. I still find WP to be **** - but I haven't a choice in the matter :p

thanks :)

I also applied the shortcut to printserver100.exe in the startup folder and it corrected my issue as well.

I've dealt with this problem off and on also. Putting PrintServer100.exe in startup does seem to help. I also had some luck gong into the System Properties - Performance - File System and telling the machine it was a Network Server instead of a Desktop Computer. I guess the theory here is that the Server profile releases memory blocks more efficiently.

A Corel rep at a conference in late August claimed the whole problem points back at 98's "memory leak" issues. I'm running WP10 on an XP box and have had almost zero problems with it. The rep also claimed that service pack 3 for WP10 should hit the street sometime in September and should address this issue, so I'm watching for that.

Personally, I think WordPerfect leaves Uncle Bill's Word in the dust.

Forgot one item in my previous post. If you're printing to a network printer, turn off the spooling in 98. Set it to print direct to printer instead. Since the network (Novell, in my case) spools the print job already, "why chew your food twice?" as someone once told me.
