Only third party software (on top of VIOS code) that is allowed AFAIK are multipath storage drivers like powerpath, SDD, SDDPCM, ... Openssh is provided in the base VIOS code as of 1.3 level I believe.
They *would* find out when you encounter a problem and have to provide a snap file. Their response would then be somethin along the lines of: "Reinstall VIOS without that extra software and see if you encounter the same problem. Then get back to us. Thank you for calling and have a nice day". ;-)
I'm with p5 mag.
Don't bother!
It was, but is no longer AIX.
Try not to treat it as such, even if you / your auditors keep thinking of it as AIX - it is not!
Storage drivers (and SSH) only need apply!
THE AUDITORS are killing me about this. I am not sure what else to say to them? I gave them the IBM documentation, but they are convinced at 'setup_oem', is giving them AIX ML :-(
AFAIK it is still an AIX based appliance, but you should treat it as such. The ioscli layer between the administrator and the AIX OS beneath is designed wit a possible migration to a LINUX OS base in mind.
Tell your auditors to direct their questions to IBM support instead of you.
