The company I work for has inherited a phone system and from the system version (30nCG18 NAT) I've figured it to be a MICS 0x32 Release 1 - T1 system. I'm guessing that's kind of old. One of the top people wants to replace it because it wasn't configured correctly before I came along and started fixing some of the settings as I've learned from websites and finally buying the manuals. My question is basically, what software upgrade options do I have from this version and is it worth the cost to upgrade?

latest is rel 6.1
you probably will have to upgrade your applications like voice mail also ...phones can be the old ones

You may have a challenge using older Norstar phones
with the newest 6.1 software. I would recommend getting in touch with the local vendor to help with the initial system
square up. If you are using Voice Mail you will need to make sure of compatability also. These boards are not made
to be used to take the place of a good Tech. You can get yourself in a growing mess without a good basic program.

I wouldn't be installing it myself. We have a local vendor but they are limited in knowledge of the differences between the new system. Our system is a mix of old(T) and new(M) phones. Our voice mail would have to be upgraded as we have the Norstar Vmail 2.2 which isn't compatible with 6.1. I was just wondering if there's any worthwhile features since R1T1 that would make it worth the trouble. Sorry if I'm asking in the wrong place.

Like FletcherP mentioned.

The vendor can check everything out & depending on your custom needs,& make any recommendations to achive your goals.

I always ask new customers to draw up a slight floor plan and a organizational chart showing departments, users, VM or not. This will help them to help you.

If you are just a basic user they might just recommend reprogramming to your business needs.

You would probably only need to upgrade if you wanted to go with PRI service, or if your voice mail was inadequate for whatever reason. Otherwise, like they say: if it aint broke, dont fix it.

I think you would need to speak with a vendor more in tune to the Norstar product line.

The T series are the newer sets, if 16's the e's were designed for full functionality with the 6.0 up.

If the T7316 have three buttons under the volume bar- they are the newest type

Yeah, I got them mixed up. We have about 40 of the old M7208, 35 of the newer T7208, 6 of the M7310, and 1 M7324.

From my past knowledge, M phones may have problems keeping their volume preference. BLFs may not work with the newer system and other problems I cant list off the top of my head. In all, change phones, or dont upgrade if you dont need to.
