I have two PCs. One is running W2K pro and other is XP Pro with SP1.

I have a wireless router which is connected to Cable Modem. THe Router is DHCP server and gives internal IP addresses in the range of 192.168.2.X. The W2K machine is directly connected to the Router via Network Cable. The XP Laptop gets dhcp ip and connects to the Internet via teh wirelss Router.

I shared one folder photos on the W2K machine. I can see the workgroup name from m network places but cant get into the computer and getting the error "Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available".

I can ping the computers from one another by name and by IP. I tried mapping the shared drive by using machine name and IP but still getting error.

Pls help
Thx

Sorry, i didn't read your post carefully enough!

OK, lets first check your network configuration in XP. Please do the following:

(1) From the Windows XP OS, Click Start, type CMD & press Enter.
(2) At the command prompt, type:

IPCONFIG /ALL

It doesn't matter if it is in upper or lower case, but make sure to put a space between the G & the /.

(3) When you have done this, tell me what you have listed for these:

* Connection-specific DNS Suffix
* DHCP Enabled
* Autoconfiguration Enabled
* IP Address
* Subnet Mask
* Default Gateway
* DHCP Server
* DNS Servers

Regards,
Doc
