Have just gotten a Windows2000 PC with OfficeXP (Word2002).
Have an app that will not install (but that I need) without Word2000. Question: Can I install Word2000 on this machine AND KEEP IT SEPARATE FROM WORD2002 and OFFICEXP? I don't want to wreck the OfficeXP installation that is already on the PC. Note: OfficeXP and Word2002 are already there, so Word2000 would be being added last.

Thank You

Be careful.

Install into a different directory. It *should* be okay, but generally, the latest versions get installed last.

I'm intrigued that you have an app that must use Word 2000, and why. dreamboat@nni.com

Thanks for the reply. I was also intrigued that we could not use our software with Word2002. It is a specialized program for our industry. When I try to install it on the Word2002 machine, it says "This software requires Word2000 or Word97" and kicks me out of the installation program. Tech support for the software says "Yes, indeed. You must have either Word2000 or Word97." As to why, they wouldn't say. Theoretically, I suppose they think there is some formatting in their macros that would not work on Word2002 - or at least they haven't tried it yet. I think, to be safe, I will delete OfficeXP from this machine and put the 2000 version on until our software maker catches up!
