Strange problem I've had for a while - if I copy plain text into Word it takes up about twice as much space on a printed page than it does in Notepad. I've tried mucking about with the line spacing but it doesn't seem to change it - there's still LOADS of space between lines, althought the document has the same font/size as Notepad.

Any idea how to fix this?

Cheers

Bill

Hi,
Have you checked Pragraph Space Before and After? Highlight the text, click on Format menu, select Paragraph and click the arrows in the Space Before and After window until it reaches Zero.

Hope this helps!

Yep, tried all that, makes no difference.

Thanx, I've tried all that, makes no difference.

Where are you copying the text from? Sometimes copying and pasting html messes up linespacing.

When pasting, try Edit, Paste Special, Unformatted text

It is definitely a HTML source.

As Jorzech and aaronjonmartin correctly pointed out your solution is to select a edit->paste special->(unformatted text) OR (unformatted unicode text).

Is there anyone that knows of a way of converting this HTML to normal next without going through the "paste special" option (and not creating a new file either)?

I saved the *.doc as a Word file and copied and pasted and it was fine....

I've tried pasting as unformatted but it's still the same - Page 1 ends at 'Intro' in Word (Courier New, size 10), whilst Notepad fits all the way to 'main riff variation'...

Wierd!

Ah... found the problem!

'Snap to grid' in the paragraph settings. Turn that off and text returns to normal. Phew. Thanks for your help everyone :)

Where in XP Paragraph Settings do you find a "Snap to grid" option?

I've looked and do not see this option... Format > Paragraph?

TIA
