The deleted joke was very funny to me, but I think it needed some revision. Sorry about that. [sad]

I can just imagine Ali G on a First-Class flight sitting next to a reverend:

Flight Attendant: Would you gentlemen like a mixed drink?

Reverend: I'd rather be savagely mauled by a dozen prostitutes than let liquor touch my lips.

Ali G: (putting his whiskey and water back on service tray) I didn’t know we had a choice. [wink]

Esquared,

I like your revision over my original wording. [2thumbsup]

My respond to CajunCenturion bite:
"ZoomerZ - Do you dot capital letters?"
No I do not normally unless forced into by playing a game and urged to participate.

SantaMufasa,

We do have the pleasure of Ali G in the US. The show plays on HBO and the first season is already on DVD.

ZoomerZ,

You were urged to participate?

P.S. Thank you for being clearer with your quotations.

Did you know that the dot over the letter 'i' is called a "tittle."

I meant I had a sudden urge to participate. Is this better?
Thanks

...and even more co-incidental is "tittle's" phraselogical counterpart, "jot", as in "every jot and title" from scriptural reference. Where "tittle" is the dot over the letter "i", "jot" is specifically the dot over the letter "j". "Jot" came originally from the name of the Greek letter "iota" ("i"); but during the Middle Ages, Latin adopted the letter "j" and called it "jota", thus deriving the dot over the letter "j" as the "jot".

So, perhaps I should have entitled this thread, "Word trivia: what word has three 'jots' or 'tittles'?"

And now, "jot" has another meaning "to quickly write" usually used like "I jotted down Mark's phone number on a scrap of napkin."

Although the noun "jot" (meaning the letter 'j' or specifically its dot), dates from 1526; the verb "jot...to make a short note of", derives also from the noun's eventual alternate meaning, "the least part of anything", and dates from 1721.
