I'll add a vote to PDF995. I've used it for ages and it's been excellent.

I've used PDF995 for several versions of Office too: I can vouch for its reliability. It may not have all the bells and whistles you get with Adobe, but if all you need is to create plain PDF documents it is perfect and only a miniscule cost.

Hi tf1,

Word 2007 does not come with pdf rendering software. Rather, if you've got any authenticated MS Office 2007 products (and that includes Word 2007), you can download a filter from MS for saving files that you open with Office in PDF file format. It won't work with non-Office products.

Cheers

Yes. I should have been clearer about that. The original plan was that Office 2007 would have PDF 'out-of-the-box', but Adobe objected on some weird premise (threw toys out of pram, ripped tete off dummy, etc.) so that the PDF integration has to be downloaded separately.

Another vote for CutePDF - it makes smaller PDF files than a lot of the other free solutions too.

Also take a look at the criminally overlooked Bullzip PDF Printer ( as this also lets you do things like watermark and secure your PDFs, set document properties, and more besides - these are features a lot of the other freebies don't have.
