Word text to code variable

I need to read a field in a word doc to a variable to save a copy of the doc as "c:\my_path\field value.doc"

any ideas?

can you give an example? I think "field" is too generic a term.

By field, I mean a merged field in this case, but it could also be (row 5, col 1 to col 7), either of these would be fixed as far as position in the doc but their text can change.
