Is there a easy way of inserting a statistical equation into a Word document? For example p = v(p(1-p)/n) … but I would like the p(1-p) to be displayed above the division symbol (a horizontal line) and the division symbol above the n. I could use tables and hide borders (except the line to represent the division symbol) … but this is a bit cumbersome. I then want a proper square root symbol to be displayed.

Thanks

You can do this with an EQUATION field. To create it, press Ctrl-F9 to create an empty field. Then, between the field braces, insert:
EQ v\b(\f(p(1-p),n))
then press F9 to update the field.

I'm unclear, though, as to where the radical (square root symbol) is meant to be. If you're referring to the square root of 'n', you could use:
EQ v\b(\f(p(1-p),\r(n)))

Cheers

Thanks macropod .... I didn't know this existed. It's exactly what I want.

If you'll be doing many equations, it is MUCH EASIER to use Equation Editor!

Insert > Object > Microsoft Equation x.x
If it is not listed, you will need to install the component by doing a Custom Install of Word/Office.

Then, you can add the Equation Editor button to your toolbar:

I also recommend that you define the Equation Editor's Sizes as percentages--except "Full" (full-size font). If you define "Full" in POINTS (pt) and the others (subscripts, superscripts, and symbols) in PERCENTAGES (%), when you change the size of "Full", the others will scale accordingly.
