Word 'Report' included in title or not

It bothered me for a while...does word 'Report' should be always/never/by request be included in the Nmae of the Report within Crystal.
Ofcourse i name file as short as I can (system limitation) but when opened up should that say Financial Status Report?

I am in charge of it but I want to know professional way.
i use to work by request and now I am on my own.

Hi,
There are actually 2 names for a report, the file name ( employees.rpt) and a Title you can assign ( under File..Summary Info [a very handy way to document a report]) -- This is what will show when the report is opened in designer and can be what shows when published to the Enterprise ( if you use it).
You can also use the Comments section of the Summary Info to add a more detailed description)

The title of a book doesn't say Book at the end. But some do. World Book, etc. Titles are important in that they should describe what the report does but you need to use proper English.

For instance:

Master Pick (with out report or list would be silly)

Open Orders for MyCompany (is ok)

If you just set all the titles to TPS Report though then you are all set.

More preference than anything, but my practice is to avoid adding the word 'report' to a title because it is redundant 99% of the time.

I also avoid using the "Title" in the summary info. The main reason for this is that I typically add numbers to file names to track versions. When I open two versions of the same report to compare them, I like the title bar and the WINDOW menu list to show the version numbers. But if you fill in the TITLE, then that is what is shown in these 2 places and now both reports show the exact same thing.

As Turk alluded to, using the Summary Information suits many well as it is used when published to Crystal Enterprise.

As for the use of the term REOPRT within a title, that's certainly the end users call and shouldn't bother you either way. Some legal reports require certain naming conventions, and many users like to state that something is a report in the name of it.

As a matetr of precaution, and Crystal's ongoing difficulty with corrupting it's own reports, I save under a different version number after every hour or so of coding.

Then when I am ready for QA/User Review I will name it to the standard name, and use the same name in the File->Summary Info->Title

Our standard is to always use the word REPORT within the title and the file name.

This is because many of our RPT files are exported to PDF and we want the PDFs to easily show that it is a REPORT when users are browsing an off-line PDF.

that is priceless to me because it is constantly happening to my Reports, not all but certaint ones and I do have it saved in 100 different places but sometimes copies get corrupted magically. Is this a bug? Are they working on this problem?

Thanks to all so it is my call and no rules exists right? I wish there was convention, I am not good at choosing. I need directions to follow presisely
