WORD OVER SAVING???

Hi,
Often when I open a doc in word and immediately close again,
get asked, save changes?
No changes have been made. Did nothing but look at the doc - didn't even touch the mouse or scroll!
Any ideas. Gets irritating after a while.

Is there some type of text that gets updated on opening (date, time, etc.)? Even page numbering would do it if the document repaginated on opening.

What are the Save options set to? (Tools, Options, Save)

Note this is recent behaviour. And I have never made changes in this section

didn't know this section existed

guess these are default settings

(/ = tick)
allow backgound saves /
embed linguistic data /
save autorecover info every / (10 minutes)
embed smart tags /
save word files as Word Document (*.doc)
